ABOUT the composer
Ernesto Aguirre is percussionist and composer whose work fuses storytelling, rhythm, and cultural depth into a distinctive musical voice. A first-generation Mexican-American and graduate of the University of North Texas College of Music, Ernesto draws on his heritage and lifelong connection to percussion to create emotionally resonant music for both the screen and stage.
As the founder of Twin Drummer Publishing, Ernesto creates original works and educational commissions for concert bands, orchestras, and percussion ensembles across the United States and beyond. His music is known for balancing musicality, accessibility, and educational value, helping student performers experience the thrill of expressive, high-quality music that feels both challenging and achievable.
Ernesto’s extensive background spans marching percussion, Latin, Brazilian, West African, and South Indian traditions, as well as jazz and orchestral percussion — all of which shape his dynamic and rhythmically engaging writing style. His works have been performed nationally by school ensembles and internationally by musicians and ensembles.
In addition to composing, Ernesto helps musicians and composers worldwide refine their craft through his online educational platforms and YouTube channel. His formal studies and mentorships include work with celebrated artists such as Bruce Broughton and Carol Britten Chambers, among others.
